The head of Agricultural Market Access of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), Cesar Noe Pino, stated on Saturday that Honduran fruits had accessed 12 new markets, generating significant foreign exchange for the country.
He said the access had been achieved as part of a process that started in 2010.
One of the fruits seeing an export boom is rambutan, which has managed to enter the Mexican market, he said.
Another important case is the Honduran melon, which has managed to position itself in different markets, such as Colombia, Taiwan, and soon in the Japanese market.
It is worth mentioning that Honduras plans to enter other competitive markets in this area based on sanitary and phytosanitary measures of worldwide application.
