Peruvian banana exports between January and November of this year amounted to US $152,831,930, i.e. 14.1% more than the US $133,938,437 achieved in the same months of 2017.
This, according to the AgrodataPeru website, which also stated that in the first eleven months of 2018 Peru exported 212,084,450 kilos of bananas, 16.4% more than the 182,180,092 kilos it exported in the same period of the previous year.
This increase in shipments is due to the fact that in 2017 the coastal El Niño affected the production and the harvesting of fruit in the fields.
The main markets to which Peru sent its bananas in the first eleven months of this year were the Netherlands with US $53,491,175 (35% of the total) and the United States with US $42,792,940 (28%).
Other markets supplied with Peruvian banana were Germany US $16,811,512 (11%), Republic of Korea 7%, Belgium 4%, Finland 4%, Panama 4%, Japan 3%, the United Kingdom 2%, and others 2%.
