The Red Chili Orange Chicken Skewers were produced on dates ranging from September 27, 2018 through January 10 2019. The recalled product is 9.11-pound cases containing four plastic packages each of “Red Chili Orange Chicken Skewers.” The product has the case code number 79073, and various use by dates between October 15, 2018 and January 28, 2019. The skewer package has the establishment number “P-4121A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations in Illinois and Wisconsin and donated to some organizations in Denver, Colorado.
The problem was discovered on January 16, 2019, when personnel saw production employees with nut allergen sticks and found that a “Coconut Teriyaki Tropical” seasoning was used on the product. Even a small amount of an allergen can cause a reaction in some people.
If you bought this product and are allergic to coconut, don’t eat it. Return it to the store where you purchased it, or throw it away.
FSIS is concerned that some of these products could be frozen in consumers’ home freezers.
The symptoms of an allergy can vary widely. Early, more mild symptoms include tingling of the tongue, lips, and mouth, and itching. More serious symptoms can include hives, wheezing, and swelling of the throat, leading to difficulty breathing.
