Cooperation in food processing and pharmaceuticals was among the topics discussed at the meeting between C R Chaudhary, minister of state for commerce and industry, and a German delegation led by Wolfgang Tiefensee, minister of economic affairs, science and digital society of the German state of Thuringia in New Delhi.

At the meeting, organised by Invest India, Chaudhary emphasised the need for further economic cooperation between India and Germany and sought German investments in a number of fields.

He also sought the all-round support of the German government for investment in, guidance about and exchange of the best practices for start-ups in India. Cooperation in the field of education as well as in research and development (R&D) was also discussed during the meeting.

Chaudhary apprised the delegation that the Government of India was continuously working to create a conducive atmosphere for foreign investments in the country. He added that due to the continuous efforts and commitment of the Government, India has moved from 142 positions to the 77th place in Ease of Doing Business ranking in the world.
