On February 26, 2019, the India’s Ministry of Finance (MOF) further deferred the implementation date, from March 2 to April 1, 2019, to increase the basic custom duty on specific US agricultural products (i.e. shelled and in-shell almonds, in-shell walnuts, fresh apples, and pulses).

On June 20, 2018, the MOF issued notifications 48/2018 and 49/2018 announcing tariff increases on these specified US-origin agricultural products, effective August 4, 2018.

Since that date, regular delays have been announced, and were reported on by the USDA. The last previous one in this case was the MOF notification from January 29, 2019 announcing a 30-day delay, from January 31, 2019 to March 2, 2019.
