Core Tip: New regulations for the import of fruits, vegetables and plants within the European Union came into effect on December 14th.
New regulations for the import of fruits, vegetables and plants within the European Union came into effect on December 14th. It is now obligatory to declare to the DAAF the import of mangoes, citrus fruits, peppers, lychees or passion fruits if the package or baggage (in case of air transport) exceeds 5 kg.

Pineapples, coconuts and bananas, on the other hand, can be transported or imported from overseas territories without prior declaration.

The objective is to protect agricultural crops and some plants from pests, both overseas and in Europe.
