The Atlantic Acanthus ship, from the Global Reefers operator, has shipped out of the Puerto Caldera Maritime Terminal (TMPC) in northern Chile with the first shipment of seasonal fruit towards the port of Wilmington in Philadelphia, United States.

The ship transported 3,150 pallets of table grapes. According to TMPC, a total of 35,000 pallets will be transported in this period.

The commercial manager of Puerto Caldera, Christopher Aliste, said that this shipment marked the starting point of a season that is expected to be positive regarding shipments to the North American market. "Given the change of varieties, we expect a recovery in fruit volumes, so we estimate a slight increase in the total volume to be exported," he added.

It should be noted that, according to the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (PASO), Chile is the leading exporter of fruits in the southern hemisphere and the leading global exporter of table grapes and blueberries.
