The most expensive vegetable in India -which is sold only in the month of Sawan- is available only in two states: Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The most important thing is that its name is different in both places. The name of this vegetable is Khukdi and its price is Rs 1200 per kg (€13.20). This vegetable gets sold as soon as it comes to the market.
The product contains a lot of protein and in Chhattisgarh, it is known as Khukdi. In Jharkhand, this vegetable is called Rueda. They are both a species of mushroom, found in the forest.
It is said that this vegetable has to be cooked within two days, otherwise it gets spoiled. In the forest of Korba district adjoining Udaipur, including Balrampur, Surajpur, Surguja, Chhattisgarh, a natural dryness occurs during the rainy day.
According to information¸ the demand for khukdi that grows for two months sometimes becomes so high that the villagers living in the forest store it.
