Kinnuar apples have hit north Indian fruit markets. A spokesman of Agriculture Department stated that as many as 2.5 mln boxes of Kinnuar apples are already sent to market from the Kinnuar district.
Compared to other apple growing districts, the Kinnuar crop arrives relatively late in the market. The state Horticulture Departments recorded production of some 2,828,182 boxes of apples in the Kinnuar district in last year. There is now a target of 3,283, 300 boxes for this year.
The Kinnuar apple is ripe for export as its shelf life is long and fruit size, texture and sweetness and nutritional value is excellent and unparallelled. The high altitude climatic conditions which range from humid- temperate to dry temperate contribute to the high food value of the Kinnuar apple.
