Genius has extended an original deal struck in March to supply Carrefour stores with bread and pizza. The baker will now supply 10 gluten-free products sold in frozen form including: white and brown sliced bread, three types of pizza, lemon and raisin pancakes, pitta bread, croissants, pain au chocolat and shortcrust pastry.

'Enormous'

Genius boss Roz Cuschieri said: “The extended deal with Carrefour is another valuable stepping stone for us as we strive to become a household name in the European gluten-free market. The growth opportunities for us in Europe are enormous.”

The products will be manufactured in the UK and exported to Spain. The firm’s pizza and bread products are sold in 320 Carrefour stores in Spain, while other products will be available in hypermarket outlets.

Genius claimed to account for 50% of the UK gluten-free bread market.
