A major agriculture and fisheries census is to take place in the Philippines in order to update information about the two sectors.
According to the National Statistics Office (NSO) in Basilan, a Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) will be carried out next year.
The provincial statistics officer Engr Naser Usman explained the NSO will need to have the support and cooperation of stakeholders in the agriculture and fisheries industries to make it possible. In a meeting with key industry players, he said: “We are very optimistic that, with your attendance, participation and active involvement, we shall have a very fruitful sharing of ideas and inputs which will be of paramount importance for us to have a very successful conduct of the 2012 census of agriculture and fisheries.”
