American supplier of table olives, Musco Family has been certified with Safe Quality Food(SQF) Institute’s Ethical Sourcing (ES) module which is a new sourcing certification.
The new sourcing certification ES will ensure that the products being sourced are created in safe facilities by well-paid and well-treated workers.
The certification will also ensure that the supplier is respecting the environment during the production and manufacture of the products.
Food suppliers must meet strict audit standards that address a number of key social and environmental issues, including hiring and employment practices, wage compliance, occupational health and safety, pollution prevention, air emissions, land use, and waste management at their facility and supply-chain.
Musco operations and human resources director Janet Edwards remarked that SQF compliance is a continuation of the stewardship work that they are already doing at their firm.
The ES module is a voluntary supplement for SQF 1000 or SQF 2000 Certified Suppliers.
