The Oceanography Centre of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) in Vigo hosted a meeting for a working group of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and the working group WKFATHOM, to discuss and study the responsible studying breeding of horse mackerel and mackerel stocks.
The workshop will consider the sampling techniques and microscopy applied to studies of fertility, mackerel and Atlantic mackerel.
These studies are essential for the implementation of the methodology to estimate the biomass of the stock of both species. The information is also needed to make rational use of these fisheries as renewable resource.
