South Paws Hush Puppy Coated Seafood, a new product line for the Icelandic foodservice brand that offers operators great-tasting seafood featuring traditional, Southern-style hush puppy coating, has just been introduced by High Liner Foods.

A hush puppy is a popular, traditional side dish of the South, often served with seafood, that's made from cornmeal batter and is fried or baked into a crispy, golden brown ball or sphere shape. South Paws puts seafood, in a variety of species and portion sizes, inside High Liner's hush puppy coating system, blended with a hint of sweet onion, to create a seafood original.

South Paws offers foodservice operators a versatile set of menu applications, from appetizers to entrees, allowing them to differentiate themselves from their competition with a distinct flavor style thats on-trend and convenient. MonkeyDish, published by CSP Business Media, LLC, named "southern comfort foods" as one of its top restaurant menu trends in 2012.

"Chefs are increasingly taking culinary inspiration from traditional, Southern comfort foods," said Jim Papadakis, Icelandic Seafood brand manager. "South Paws capitalizes on this trend. Operators who put South Paws on their menu are serving their customers a delicious option thats both distinct and familiar, and available in multiple options to please many different customer tastes."
