Butter, turkey, fruit, vegetable and red meat stocks on Oct. 31, 2012, were higher than year-earlier levels, but chicken and cheese stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage report.
Frozen turkey stocks totaled 454,043,000 lbs, down 13% from September but up 12% from October 2011, the U.S.D.A. said. Total chicken stocks were 648,009,000 lbs, down slightly from 650,823,000 lbs in September 2012 and down 7% from October 2011. Total frozen poultry stocks were 1,103,721,000 lbs, down 6% from September and down slightly from 1,105,909,000 lbs in October 2011.
Natural cheese stocks on Oct. 31 were 954,033,000 lbs, down 4% from September and down 6% from October 2011. Butter stocks totaled 144,981,000 lbs, down 26% from September but up 11% from October 2011.
Frozen red meat supplies totaled 1,057,698,000 lbs, down 2% from September but up 14% from October 2011. Frozen pork stocks were 606,175,000 lbs, down 4% from September but up 24% from October 2011. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 423,799,000 lbs, down slightly from 424,930,000 lbs in September but up 2% from October 2011.
Total frozen egg stocks on Oct. 31 were 29,024,000 lbs, down 7% from September and down 14% from October 2011. Stocks of egg whites were 3,573,000 lbs, down 5% from September and down 14% from October 2011. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 1,988,000 lbs, down 6% from September but up 37% from October 2011. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 9,065,000 lbs, up slightly from 9,027,000 lbs in September but down 8% from October 2011. Unclassified egg stocks were 14,398,000 lbs, down 13% from September and down 22% from October 2011.
Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate were 607,876,000 lbs, down 10% from September but up 16% from October 2011. Stocks of all types of frozen fruit on Oct. 30 were 1,427,629,000 lbs, up 21% from September and up 8% from October 2011.
Stocks of frozen french fries were 932,913,000 lbs, up 6% from September and up 3% from October 2011. Total vegetable stocks (excluding potatoes) on Oct. 31 were 2,610,850,000 lbs, up 8% from September and up 5% from October 2011, the U.S.D.A. said.
