Harry & David Holdings, a Medford-based specialty gift and food retailer, has ventured into wine business with the establishment of a new winery.
The company has partnered with southern Oregon-based Pallet Wine winemaker Linda Donovan to develop a collection of wines that includes five reds and four whites. All the wines are produced from grapes grown in local vineyards.
Expected to sell the wines at Country Village stores in Medford and Woodburn, the company plans to price the wines between $15 and $30, reported Portland Business Journal.
Harry & David Holdings CEO Craig Johnson was quoted by the website as saying that the new venture will not only benefit the local wine community of southern Oregon, but will also build awareness around southern Oregon as a travel destination for wine connoisseurs.
With an established online shipping network for fruits, chocolates, home décor and other products, the company now plans to ship wine to customers.
