Nestlé Nespresso has launched Hawaii Kona Special Reserve 2012, its first special reserve limited edition coffee, for club members.
Made of 100% pure Hawaii Kona Arabica, Nespresso Hawaii Kona Special Reserve has a silky, hazelnut colored crema tinged with gold.
Clad in elegant acidity, its rich flavor reveals fruity bouquet with subtle nutty notes and silky texture. It has a medium intensity of five on a scale of one to ten.
Nespresso has created a special online platform dedicated to Hawaii Kona Special Reserve.
The company has decided to extend the availability of the Hawaii Kona Special Reserve to include a limited number of high-end restaurants in 13 markets across the globe.
Nespresso also developed a dedicated Hawaii Kona Special Reserve Coffee Codex, a 12-page publication, for chefs and sommeliers.
Nestlé Nespresso coffee head Karsten Ranitzsch said that they found small pockets of exceptional coffees, just enough in quantity to produce a limited edition for coffee connoisseurs.
"Kona is one of the world's most sought after coffees for its exquisite taste but of such physical scarcity that it can only be offered as an extremely Limited Edition," he added.
Nespresso USA president Frederic Levy said: "As we grow our presence in the U.S. market, the introduction of the Hawaii Kona Special Reserve is truly a special one as it's Nespresso's first-ever coffee to be sourced entirely in the US."
The coffee is best served as an espresso and can also be enjoyed with a splash of milk to enhance nutty, toasted notes. It comes sealed in a brushed aluminum capsule.
The sleeve, in line with the capsule, is finished in a satin mat shade of aluminum and opens from the front in a coffer style.
Hawaii Kona Special Reserve is available at Nespresso Flagship Boutiques (New York, Miami and Boston), Nespresso Boutique-in-Shop locations, through the Nespresso Club and at www.Nespresso.com. A sleeve sells for $20.
