Louisiana strawberry growers are keeping a close eye on the weather right now as frosts have been hitting their area. Growers worry that the next freeze could be the one that sets back their production.
"It could really hurt right now. This is the time of year when we try to get back our costs," Eric Morrow, from Pontchatoula Strawberry said.
Morrow has already been forced to cover his crop, this Wednesday as he was struck by freezing temperatures. A frost now could mean the loss of six weeks production.
"We’re starting to collect some of the strawberries now and we'll continue every week. So we just don't want any breaks. Six weeks without any berries would be kind of tough," Morrow explained.
