7-Eleven, a US-based convenience store chain, is restocking its shelves with fresh foods, as part of its efforts to focus on healthier food options and draw calorie conscious consumers.
Some of the new products that were launched recently include the new Bistro Snack Protein Pack that features mini pita rounds, cheddar cheese cubes, grapes, celery, baby carrots and hummus; Meal In a Box which contains healthier items under 400 calories; and Yoplait Parfait, which is a cup of vanilla yogurt topped with strawberries or blueberries and granola.
The chain took the help of culinary and food science experts to study the industry trends and develop new products, reported New York Times.
Although the retail chain has been selling fresh food for more than two decades, but much of its focus has been restricted to only certain varieties of hot dogs or the breakfast sandwiches.
