More than half of the respondents to a German survey (53%) prefer some frozen products to the same product in its fresh form. "If there weren't any frozen fish I wouldnt buy any fish at all," said one of the surveyed parties.
This was one of the favorable findings in a query conducted on behalf of the German Frozen Food Institute (dti) by Cologne's Rheingold Institut. However, 20% of the population in general still believes that frozen foods contain additives, and fully 70% of the youngest age group does.
The survey showed that the public attitude toward frozen food is quite favorable; with 88% finding that it eases daily living, and 82% saying it saves time. Some 65% said they expect to use more frozen food in the future, 59% know that they contain vitamins and nutrients and 80% think it is healthier or as healthy as other foodstuffs.
