US-based foodservice equipment company Middleby has acquired Spooner Vicars Bakery Systems, a manufacturer of baking systems for the cookie and cracker industry.
Spooner Vicars Bakery Systems, established in 1849, offers equipment and systems capable of mixing, forming, baking, cooling, sandwiching and packaging to produce different types of biscuit and snack baked products.
Middleby chairman and CEO Selim Bassoul said that with this acquisition, the company has the opportunity to showcase the Spooner Vicars products to a broader market by leveraging its international sales organization and existing relationships with global industrial bakeries.
"We continue to see a growing global demand from our customers to automate their operations, and the Spooner Vicars portfolio provides an innovative solution that complements our existing brands in this platform," Bassoul added.
In 2012, Middleby acquired Nieco, a manufacturer of automatic broilers for the commercial foodservice industry; and Stewart Systems Global, a manufacturer of baking systems for the food processing industry.
Middleby develops, manufactures, markets and services a broad line of equipment used for commercial food cooking, preparation and processing.
