Laird Family Estate, a division of Laird Family that produces red and white wines, has purchased Silverado Vineyards in California, as part of its strategy to expand wine production to meet the growing demand.
Located on the Silverado Trail, Silverado Vineyards is a 25-acre wine estate and has a tasting room, 117,000gal stainless cooperage and a bottling line. The winery is well-known for its Crushpad, a custom crush operation center that was operational from 2009-11.
Silverado joins Laird as the third custom crush facility, with other two crush facilities located at Laird Family Estate's 5055 Solano Avenue in Napa and at Andretti Winery's 4162 Big Ranch Road in Napa. The combined efforts from all the three crush facilities will allow the winery to expand its crush capacity to over 6,000 tons.
The acquisition will also allow Laird to use the planned collective tasting studio of Silverado Vineyards that has a marketable presence throughout the Silverado Trail.
Laird Family Estate general manager Rebecca Laird was quoted by the website as saying that with the three custom crush operations, they are in a position to meet their additional storage, crush and fermentation needs.
"We are also adding a valuable service to our clients; a state-of-the-art collective hospitality center," Laird added.
