UK-based Orkney Brewery, a subsidiary of Sinclair Breweries, has produced Norseman Pale Ale for Shetland-based wholesale firm J.W. Gray & Co.

The 4.4%ABV drink will be available in golden coloured bottles, is expected to be light in taste and will be launched during the Up Helly Aa festival in Europe on 29 January 2013.

Sinclair Breweries managing director Norman Sinclair said that J.W. Gray & Co approached them with the idea of producing an ale specially for the Shetland market.

"We wanted to craft an ale that was refreshing and drinkable, with a distinctive Shetland identity, and we're very proud of the result," Sinclair added.

Apart from being available in Shetland, limited quantity of the ale will also be made available at Orkney Brewery's visitor centre, according to Scotland Food and Drink.
