Oakham Ales, a Peterborough-based brewery that produces ales, has acquired Bellwether Wines for undisclosed amount.
Under the transaction terms, Bellwether Wines' brand name has been retained
Warren Ball, who has more than two decades of experience in the wine sector, has joined Oakham Ales as wine director, while Michael Posnett, who has been involved with Bellwether Wines business for over two years, has joined as wine co-ordinator.
Oakham Ales managing director Adrian Posnett said the acquisition of Bellwether Wines has given them an opportunity to develop a wine portfolio alongside its cask ale business.
"Warren's wealth of experience and expertise within the wine industry will enable us to offer the best possible range of wines tailored to suit the different needs or our customers. The acquisition will also give us the opportunity to talk to Bellwether's clients about our fantastic range of ales," Posnett added.
Bellwether produces wines such as Tall Horse Sauvignon Blanc, Sanviglio Pinot Grigio, Tall Horse Shiraz, Thorne Clarke Terra Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon, Tall Horse Pinotage Rose, Cava Miret Brut, Lanson Black Label Champagne and others.
