GCMMF to establish $23m milk processing plant in Uttar Pradesh

India-based dairy co-operative Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) plans to invest $23.57m to establish a milk processing plant in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

GCMMF has purchased 40 acres of land in Jainpur industrial area of Kanpur Dehat district for the purpose.

The plant, which will procure milk from local farmers, will have a capacity to process 1 million liters of milk per day and will market products of Amul brand.

GCMMF managing director RS Sodhi told The Indian Expres that the construction of the new plant might be completed in one and half years.

GCMMF is also seeking land between Lucknow and Kanpur from the UP government to establish another dairy plant.
