India-based Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the marketer of the Amul brand of milk and dairy products, is set to establish a dairy unit in Thane, Maharashtra.
The facility, which will be set up with an investment of INR1.4bn ($25.60m), will collect about 1 million litres of milk per day.
Amul general manager K Ratnam said that the first unit will be built in the Vasai area.
Recently, the co-operative has established a facility in Rajgurunagar in Pune district of Maharashtra, and it plans to set up a bigger unit in Vasai.
GCMMF is an Indian dairy cooperative, based at Anand in the state of Gujarat, India. It is is jointly owned by 3.03 million milk producers in Gujarat. Its product range includes various milk-based products such as milk powders, milk, butter, ghee, cheese, Masti Dahi, Yoghurt, Buttermilk, chocolate, ice cream, and cream.
