Le Bon Vin, a Sheffield-based independent wine merchant, is to distribute Vinoserv UK made VinoServ wine preservation system in the UK.
Manufactured in Germany, VinoServ wine preservation system serves as a solution to the problem of wine wastage after the bottle has been opened for single serve.
To deal with the problem, the system injects specially developed Vinoconserv gas, a mixture of nitrogen and carbon dioxide, into the open bottle. This gas covers the wine and thus preserves it from oxidation. The gas is non-toxic, odorless, tasteless and food safe, and keeps the wine fresh for number of weeks, reported Harpers.
Le Bon Vin managing director Patrick Jouan was quoted by the website as saying that he found similar products in the market, but were not trustable and were too expensive.
"Then I discovered the VinoServ system in the village of St Emilion, where it was being used for wine that cost £100+ a bottle, and for this reason I decided to take on the distribution for the UK," Jouan added.
"In the Le Bon Vin wine shop I have high-quality French wine bottles permanently open, and as this system is so reliable it keeps the wines fresh for three to five weeks after opening to enable our customers to sample the wines."
VinoServ wine preservation system is available for both home and professional use.
