Once again the export volumes of Chilean blueberries have been higher than predicted, with 5,382 tons shipped, instead of the anticipated 3,376. The rise was, once more, largely due to higher than expected temperatures, but also due to much less rainfall than this time last year, meaning that harvest could take place uninterrupted. It was fully expected that the season had seen the end of weeks with export volumes over 4,000 tons.
Rainfall is expected over the weekend, in the Southern Region, where the harvest is currently taking place and this should bring about a dramatic change in the situation.
Next week's export volumes are anticipated to reach only 3,000 tons.
