Pernod Ricard-owned brand Brancott Estate has released the first limited edition Chosen Rows Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010.
Brancott Estate has partnered with vineyard managers, winemakers and research specialists to carry out viticultural and vinification trials across the Marlborough region.
The project, dubbed as 'icon project', began five years ago with the selection of 14 different vineyard plots across the Marlborough region.
A year later in 2009 just around 12 cases were produced. Brancott Estate made some changes and has bottled 3,500 individually numbered Sauvignon Blanc 2010 with an RRP of £35 per 70cl bottle.
Brancott Estate chief winemaker Patrick Materman said: "Our understanding of complex and age-worthy natural aroma compounds of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, together with our learnings of the soil types on Brancott Vineyard, has given us a unique opportunity to create this prestigious wine - the pinnacle of our winemaking."
Pernod Ricard UK wine development director Adrian Atkinson told the drinks business that 80 cases of Chosen Rows has already been shipped to the UK, with most of the rest being targeted across New Zealand, Australia and the US.
