Archery Summit Winery, an Oregon-based winery and subsidiary of Crimson Wine Group, has launched its 2012 vintage - Vireton Pinot Gris.

Vireton Pinot Gris is made from hand-harvested grapes, which are initially pressed and settled for 24 hours and then fermented in stainless steel fermenters alongside Alsatian-style yeasts under temperature controlled conditions. The wines are bottled under screw cap to preserve fruit flavor profile of the blend.

Archery Summit Winery winemaker Christopher Mazepink said, "This inaugural vintage of the Vireton Pinot Gris showcases a traditional representation of the varietal, with evocative aromas of citrus lemon verbena, lime zest, apple blossom and rosemary on the nose and a vibrant acidity on the palate."

Crimson Wine Group CEO Erle Martin said, "As Pinot Gris is a classic companion varietal in Oregon, we wanted to explore the prospect of producing a nationally-distributed bottling, having previously only offered a limited production for our wine club members."

The winery has produced only 2,500 cases of the 2012 Vireton Pinot Gris, which is available for $24 per bottle.
