Iceland-based food processing solutions provider Marel is set to unveil its I-Slice 3300 slicing machine for smoked salmon at Seafood Processing Europe, a seafood trade fair which will be held from 23-25 April 2013 in Brussels.

The I-slice 3300 is an automatic slicer for production of retail packs of smoked sliced salmon. It slices and delivers fixed-weight batches and is claimed to set new standards in the production of retail-packed salmon slices.

The new equipment can slice with a variable or fixed number of slices on boards or trays with virtually no manual handling. It can sort out the head and tail pieces, collecting them in a bin beneath the conveyor, according to the company.

Marel, headquartered in Gardabaer, Iceland, provides equipment, systems and services to the food processing industry. The company focuses on poultry, fish, meat and further processing and has worked on technological improvements to the provision of fish fillets.
