Skellerup, a New Zealand-based dairy equipment manufacturer, has purchased three hectares of land at Wigram Business Park in Christchurch from Ngāi Tahu Property for $6.6m.

The company has acquired the land to house its dairy manufacturing operations.

Skellerup CEO David Mair said that the company will begin to construct a new dairy manufacturing facility in the land.

"Our planning is well advanced and we are targeting late 2014 as the time for completion followed by the business relocation to the new facility," Mair added.

The purchase of the land and construction of the new facility will be funded out of insurance proceeds, existing reserves and unused banking lines.

Skellerup produces a wide range of equipments for the dairy industry including milking liners, milk pumps, milk filters and accessories, dairy accessories and others.
