La Altena, a Mexico-based distiller of tequila brands, has unveiled a new spirit, Blanco Tequila, under its Tapatio brand.
Distilled by La Altena distiller Carlos Camarena, the Blanco Tequila is bottled at 110 proof, the highest allowed by Mexican law for spirits.
The 110-Proof tequila possesses flavors of florals, cinnamon and chamomile, reported Shanken News Daily.
All the spirits produced at La Altena distillery follow the centuries old production methods, including the usage of traditional masonry ovens and a Tahona millwheel to crush the cooked pinas, the heart of agave plant.
The extract is then mixed with foot in a barrel before subjecting for fermentation and distillation. The tequilas are double distilled in a traditional copper pot still and aged in ex-American whiskey casks.
Blanco Tequila will be available for purchase in California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida and Missouri, with a price tag of $48 per 1l bottle.
Blanco joins Reposado and Anjeo under the Tapatio range, all of which are imported into the US by Charbay Distillers.
