Nestlé is investing more than CHF29 million in new distribution facilities in Russia to meet what the company says is growing demand for its products in the country.

The company is extending its distribution centre at its manufacturing site in Vorsino in the region of Kaluga to better serve consumers across Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.

The investment will have created about 100 new jobs by the time the new facilities are fully operational in October this year.

“We are taking an important step to strengthen our supply chain in Russia,” said Maurizio Patarnello, chief executive officer of Nestlé in Russia. “The distribution centre will deliver a wide range of pet food products from Nestlé Purina and all dry grocery items sold by Nestlé in Russia, including Nescafé coffee, Maggi culinary products, Nestlé infant nutrition and Bistroff cereals. We believe in Russia’s long-term potential, which is why we continue to invest in the development of local facilities.”

Nestlé made the announcement at a ceremony to mark the official opening of an almost CHF 40 million (more than 1.4 billion roubles) extension to its Purina PetCare factory on the Vorsino site this week.
