Frozen food retailer Iceland plans to open 40 new stores across the UK in 2013 as part of its expansion plan.
The supermarket chain is also mulling to launch an online food service, which it closed in 2005 due to difficulties.
North Wales-based Iceland chief executive Malcolm Walker told The Telegraph that the proposed store openings in domestic market will create 2,000 new jobs to locals.
"We will offer our customers the ability to shop with us online, building on the successful initial trials of the service in selected stores that began last month. We will also continue to identify and exploit opportunities to further develop the Iceland brand internationally," Walker added.
In the 52 weeks period to 29 March 2013, Iceland's like-for-likes sales were up by 1.1% while total sales increased 1% to £2.64bn.
