The Edrington Group (TEG), a Scotland-based company involved in blending, bottling, distributing and marketing of global spirits brands, plans to expand its international distribution network by establishing new sales, marketing and distribution companies in the US, South East Asia and the Middle East.
The move will strengthen the group's business and will allow extending its premium spirits to consumers in these key areas, which currently account for 26% of the group sales.
Under the expansion plan, Edrington USA will take care of the distribution of Edrington brands in the US. It will expand the company's reach to major cities by opening offices in Chicago, LA, Dallas, Miami and also expanding its office in New York.
In the US, the company eyes growth of its premium brands, including The Macallan and Brugal Extra Dry rum.
In South East Asia, the Edrington Singapore will manage the brands in markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos. The Macallan is the major single malt whiskey sold in South East Asia.
Edrington FIX, a new joint venture formed with FIX Wines and Spirits, will distribute spirits brands to growing markets, including travel retail, in the Middle East, the Gulf and North Africa (MENA).
TEG CEO Ian Curle said the current announcement marks a step change in Edrington's business.
"Worldwide demand for premium and super-premium spirits continues to grow and by expanding our distribution capabilities so significantly we are seizing the opportunity to increase investment in our brands and reach even more consumers who are showing a growing appreciation of premium spirits," Curle added.
