Fructose company Galam Group has welcomed the decision by EFSA to allow a claim that “consumption of foods containing fructose leads to a lower blood glucose rise compared to foods containing sucrose or glucose.”

Companies substituting at least 30% of glucose or sucrose with fructose can now make this significant health claim, notes Galam, who point out that this was one of only around 200 claims authorised by EFSA out of the thousands requested.

Galam Group provides premium non-GMO, crystalline fructose, derived from quality sugar cane or sugar beet sources, which it says allows its customers to keep on launching healthy, sweet and tasty reduced sugar/low GI products.
