Kosta Browne Winery of California has purchased K2 block, a 20 acre vineyard at the Keefer Ranch in the Russian River Valley appellation for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition is its first property and comes after the winery had earlier secured a long term lease of 37 acres vineyard from the Gap's Crown Vineyard.
Located in Green Valley in the South Western corner of the Russian River Valley, Keefer Ranch had 50 acres of vineyard with Goldridge soil and micro-climate that was ideal for growing red fruited wine, reported WineBusiness.com.
Following acquisition, Keefer Ranch co-owner Marcy Keefer will continue to own the remaining 30 acres of blocks and will sell the grapes to existing winery clients.
Kosta Browne Winery founder Michael Browne was quoted by the website as saying that they have been sourcing Pinot Noir from the Keefer Ranch since 2005 and it has been a gem in their portfolio, having designated the wine since that vintage.
"It's just such an incredible Green Valley site and the meticulous care given to this ranch by Marcy Keefer and her crew truly shows in the wines," Browne added.
