UK-based Pork Farms has teamed up with Sheffield Hallam University-based consultancy Design Futures to create packaging for its new product Dippy Egg.

The Dippy Egg is claimed to be a modern solution for making the perfect soft boiled egg. The product comprises part-boiled egg which is transformed into a cooked egg when boiling water is poured on it.

Design Futures will develop both the external packaging and the internal fitment which will protect the egg during transit and can be used as an egg cup to eat from.

Pork Farms technical director Ian Taylor said: "Using the modelling and forming equipment in their workshop Design Futures produced prototype packs that we were able to use to demonstrate the product to our customers."

Design Futures creative director John Kirkby said: "Dippy Egg has picked up a lot of attention in a very short space of time, largely thanks to the way our design team tackled the concept head-on to a very tight deadline."

Design Futures, based within Sheffield Hallam University, is a commercially focused product and packaging design consultancy group.
