Morinaga America, a US-based distributor of candies and confectionary, has introduced new Cherry flavored Hi-Chew.

The new Hi-Chew flavor is an addition to seven existing flavors, such as Strawberry, Green Apple, Mango, Grape, Peach, Melon, and Banana.

Morinaga America noted that a team of food engineers have tested domestic products, including ice creams, sodas, juices, candies before creating the new flavor.

Commenting on the launch, Morinaga America Marketing manager Clayton Perkins said that Americans love red candies and strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and watermelon are fundamental flavors.

Morinaga America former president Toshiya Yasuda said, "We wanted to make our Cherry flavor was correct to the American concept of what a Cherry should taste like. So, we asked everyone we could to try it out."

The new Cherry Hi-Chew is currently available in many parts of the US, and distribution in Canada is expected to commence soon. Individual pieces and bags are expected to be launched later this year for grocery and drug stores.
