The world's largest avocado variety, dubbed the 'Avozilla', is to be launched across UK Tesco stores from tomorrow.
According to the retailer, just one of the fruits is large enough to make a family-sized helping of guacamole and measures around 7 inches long, weighing on average 1.3 kg.
'The fruit is extremely rare and comes from just four trees grown by one of the world’s biggest suppliers of avocados in South Africa', according to the retailer.
Tesco salad buyer Emma Bonny said, “The Avozilla has a fantastic taste with a rich, juicy, buttery texture, and creamy flavor."
“We believe the Avozilla will appeal to shoppers who are looking for value for money, but especially large families.”
Tesco’s Emma Bonny added, “Avocados are one of our fastest growing areas in fruit and vegetables with a staggering 30 per cent growth so far this year.”
