Kenya-based Brookside Dairy is planning to set up a new milk plant in Nigeria, as part of its expansion plan in Africa.
This move will help the company in making its foray into the Nigerian market in order to expand its footprint beyond Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Meanwhile, Nigeria and Kenya have struck a multi-billion dollar deal to provide job and double trade between both countries over next two years, ventures-africa.com reported.
Commenting on the proposed development, Nigeria Chamber of Commerce National chairman Mohammad Abubakar was quoted by the site as saying that they are happy that the firm chairman Muhoho Kenyatta visited the country to access the possibility of investment in the diary sector.
"We are certain he will establish a Diary plant in Nigeria and we believe it will play a key role in boosting our dairy industry," Abubakar said.
The proposed milk plant is expected further increase intra-Africa trade and trade relations between Nigeria and Kenya.
Brookside Dairy has also acquired a 20% stake in Ethiopia-based Elemtu Milk Integrated Industry in July 2013.
The company procures, processes, produces, and markets milk and milk products. It offers fresh pasteurized milk, cream, butter, yogurt, ghee, and long life milk products.
