Sainsbury’s and Morrisons each scooped three awards at last night’s Retail Industry Awards 2013, held at London’s five-star Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane.
Sainsbury’s won the Supermarket of the Year title, along with awards for Independent beer and cider retailer (multiple) and Convenience Retailer of the Year (national chain).
Morrisons took the Seafood Retailer of the Year title along with awards for Most Sustainable Retailer of the Year (multiple) and Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year (multiple).
Aldi picked up the Discount Retailer of the Year award.
Among the categories for independently-owned stores, Nisa was named Symbol/Fascia Group of the Year, while Mo’s Convenience Store, Premier, Glasgow, won the award for best independent store under 1,000sq ft.
