Russia’s consumer protection agency Rospotrebnadzor has banned 28 types of alcohol products that are produced by seven Georgian companies citing non-compliance of hygiene standards.
Among the seven companies that are banned are Shavlino, Saamo and Akhalsheni 2005.
At present, 95 alcoholic firms and seven mineral water companies are permitted to supply alcoholic products to Russia.
In 2006, Russia imposed a ban imports of wine and mineral water from Georgia citing quality concerns. The ban was, however, removed in February.
Since then, a total of 6.13 million liters of alcoholic drinks, primarily wine, produced by 22 firms, were imported from Georgia, according to a statement by RosPotrebNadzor.
