Brazil's largest retail group Grupo Pao de Acucar, or GPA, has elected French retail group Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA Chief Executive Jean-Charles Naouri as its new chairman, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The election of Mr. Naouri for the position was widely expected.
Billionaire Abilio Diniz said in September that he had decided to step down as chairman of GPA, the Brazilian supermarket chain he and his family built into the nation's largest retail group, after striking an agreement with partner-turned-foe Mr. Naouri.
Mr. Diniz's departure put an end to more than two years of bitter dispute. The move reaffirmed Casino's full control of the retail group.
