‘Expect more’ is the overarching theme for Barentz’s presence at Fi Europe this year. Having just celebrated its 60th birthday, the company has grown from being a local Dutch supplier into something more – an international distributor in ingredients, raw materials and additives with a newly opened office in the Philippines. This allows the company to be closer to its customers.

“It’s more than just our theme for Fi Europe,” said Hidde van der Wal, CEO of Barentz. “It reflects our commitment to our customers in supporting them to find the right ingredients for their food and beverage products – and that is how we intend to grow our business in the international markets we’re active in.”

“Sixty years ago our founder Herman Barentz founded this company with a vision to become a leading distributor of raw materials in The Netherlands,” said van der Wal.

“Today, our entrepreneurial independence is taking us across all continents and we are living his vision of being a leader in sales, marketing and distribution of ingredients but now very much internationally focused.”

In 2010, Barentz reported a turnover of €720 million. The company expects to exceed €1 billion next year.
