Sundale Vineyards, a US-based table grapes grower, has commenced construction of a 1.13MW solar photovoltaic system, designed to power its cold storage plant.
The company has selected Cenergy Power, a commercial solar integrator in California, to engineer and install the solar system.
The solar system is currently being constructed over four acres of ground area, south of the facility's cold storage and packing plants.
It is expected to provide nearly 1.7 million kWh of clean energy each year, an estimated electricity bill offset of 91% for the storage facility and a rapid four-year simple payback on the investment.
Sundale Vineyards owner Todd Kinosian said that this solar project is a testament to the company's commitment to the environment and social responsibility.
"Sundale firmly believes that environmentally-conscious agriculture practices are vital to the sustainable growth of the industry."
