TriMarine on Tuesday agreed to acquire 100 percent of the shares of Conservera de las Americas from Austral.

Conservera de las Americas owns and operates the tuna and pelagics processing plant in Paita, Peru. The plant produces products including anchoveta and mackerel products for the Peruvian and international markets.

“We were fortunate to have been shareholders in Austral a few years ago when the company experienced rapid growth and success. Austral’s strategy to concentrate their operations more towards the center of the country has given us a welcome opportunity to again participate in an important way in the Peruvian fisheries industry,” said Renato Curto, TriMarine CEO.

“Our focus is on the human consumption side of the business. The Paita plant will be dedicated to the production of high quality products destined to our preferred customers in the countries where we currently operate, as well as in the domestic market in Peru,” Curto said. “The transaction has been structured in a way that the production at the plant will not suffer any major interruptions. The workforce of Conservera de las Americas is well trained and, with the help of our friends at Austral, we expect to have a very smooth transition.”
