The 18 tonnes of chilled half pig carcases entered Crimea through teh Dzhankov check point.
The meat was processed in the Lviv region of Ukraine and was destined for the company Eko Peak in Sevastopol.
Inspection of the veterinary certificates showed the pigs had been born and reared in an area that has African swine fever but the certificate were not signed and cleared by a vet.
Because of the absence of a signature, the Rosselkhoznador inspectors because suspicious over the safety of the meat and the reliability of the documentation.
They banned the meat from entering the country and returned it to Ukraine.
