Diageo Plc on Thursday said it has selected Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), largest software services firm, as its new global IT service provider.
The companies did not disclose the contract value or other details. TCS will manage Diageo’s global IT infrastructure, data centres and servers, and provide service desk support to Diageo employees.
“Our partnership with Tata Consultancy Services is the latest milestone in our strategy to create a world-class IT service to support Diageo’s global strategy and deliver efficient growth,” Diageo chief executive Ivan Menezes said in a statement.
In July 2013, Diageo completed its takeover of Vijay Mallya-promoted United Spirits Ltd, nearly eight months after the companies announced the transaction that will provide much-needed funds to the liquor baron and his debt-laden UB Group.
The deal will also catapult the UK distiller to the top position in a market where it has lagged both domestic and global rivals.
